Frequently Asked Questions
How long should a drawing warm-up take?
it depends on you, and the day. Sometimes it takes me even 1 hour to get in the zone, but in general THESE warmup exercises are supposed to take no more than 20 minutes
Should I warm up every time I draw?
Ideally, yes. But if you only have 30 minutes for that session, just draw what you have to
Can I use these exercises as a full practice session?
If your goal is to improve your dexterity, yes, but little every day is better than all at once
What if warm-ups don't help and I still feel stuck?
You might be too tired, it's okay to take a break sometimes.
Do professional artists warm up?
If I can call myself professional (I worked on several commercial projects at least, lol), I do warm up. Does it count?
Want this explained for YOUR drawings?
Theory only gets you so far. In a 1-on-1 mentorship, I look at what YOU specifically are doing wrong and fix it.
